The Sd.Kfz.138 Marder III or Panzerjäger 38(t) was a German tank destroyer based on the Panser 38(t) chassis produced from 1942 to 1944 and which served on all fronts until the end of the war.
The M version or Ausf.M (Ausführung) is the latest version of the Marder III. Still based on the Panzer 38(t) chassis and armed like the previous version (Ausf.H) of the 75mm PaK 40 anti-tank gun, the gun compartment and combat stations were housed at the rear of the chassis and unlike the two previous versions, the compartment was closed at the rear.
It was the most produced version with around 975 copies from 1943 to early 1944.
